AdAware vs SpyBot

Jun 3, 2004 8:10PM PDT

I've been using AdAware 6.0 for identifying and removing spyware. There's virtually no learning curve and have never had any problem with it.

But I have heard that to catch ALL spyware, one should run both AdAware AND SpyBot.

When I tried running SpyBot, I found it was NOT intuitive and I created more problems than I solved.

Is there a help source for using SpyBot?

I'm reluctant to ever run it again until I can learn more about what it does.

AdAware and SpyBot

I use both, plus Cwshredder to kill off Cool Web. Then Housecall to be sure.

As to Spybot not being intuitive, that's true about the PC as a whole, but Spybot, as installed, in the stock form is good to go. Just scan and remove what it finds.

Unless you like spyware?

Bob

Run only "check for problems" in default settings only. Do not use any other scans or change settings unless you are computer proficient.

Being well versed in computers is the only way to know how to use Spy-bot S&D and other spy-ware removers of this caliber.

In the past it did some crazy things just dowloaded it again, seems to have the bugs fixed now
However why don't you try Spy Sweep ? you can't have to many Prgs. for this problem run them all.
Leave them running whilst you go out
