Ad-Aware problem

The other day I went in and checked for new updates for Ad-Aware, there was a new difinition file available. I asked to do the download, and after a few seconds it said The download definitions file could not be read. Please update again.

I came back to get it today and it did the same thing again. I have not ever had a proble with the updates, could you please tell me how to fix, I need my Ad-Aware. Thanks for any help

You could try it this way

Close Ad-Aware. This is a direct link for the download. Download it and direct it to the Lavasoft folder in your program files. Unzip it inside that folder and you should be able to put it right on top of the definitions file that is already there. Then reopen Ad-Aware and the new defs should be there.

The current defs are SE1R52 30.06.2005.

Good luck, I've got storms heading here so I've got to shut down very shortly.

both its scan & and an A-V scan & IF both clean would try a removal & fresh install of Adaware SE 1.06. There are a number of Trojans, etc that make a point of corrupting protection scanners to prevent their discovery/removal.
Some are brutish and obviously there while others are more subtle and try not to let you know you've been compromised. HTH ! Good Luck! Happy
