ActiveX controls

by PITBULL3650 / May 29, 2004 9:59 AM PDT

When I am on NASCAR.com or any of its links, I get the message ?your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly?. Sometimes it appears more than once on the same page. There are things missing on the page. I do not have this issue on my other computer. The security settings in the ?internet options? for both computers appear to be set the same. How do I get this computer to run ActiveX controls? Using XP PRO and Spybot S&D. I think this starting about the time I installed Spybot. Uninstalling Spybot did not help.

WAG.

When you installed S+D you selected the immunize feature. (block bad guy activeX)

S+D thinks nascar is a bad guy so it is blocking it.

The fix,,reinstall S+D and deimmunize.

I do not see anywhere in Spybot S&D that says deimmunize. How do I do this?

Start S+D
On the left side you will see an icon called immunize.
Click on that icon.
This will bring up an immunize screen.
At the top of the screen you will see immunize/undo.
Click on undo.

A little further down the screen you should see a section that shows zero products blocked.

You can play with this by clicking on immunize and then viewing the number of blocked products and then clicking on undo to see the difference.

A little further down the screen you will see a section to block bad downloads.

It is your call if you want to use this.

I do not use either of these features.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
