Active X

Jun 5, 2005 9:45AM PDT

I am a member of the online reward program MyPoints. One of the offers is to earn points for making song purchases it the iTunes store. When I click on the offer, I get the following message:
Please install the current version of ActiveX to access this offer.

I have searched everywhere I can think of for information on how to do this. I have reset security settings in IE 6, and that has done nothing. I am running XP Home with SP2.

Please, of you have any suggestions as to what to do, please let me know.

As far as I know, ActiveX comes with Windows, and isn't a separate component. The best you can do might be a repair install of Windows (from the XP CD), but I don't know if that is possible from the original CD once SP2 is installed.
The only thing I've ever seen in this respect is installation programs (such as for Quicktime and Shockwave) that ask you to install an ActiveX component theyu need.

"install the current version of ActiveX" can be found nowhere in google, but on the discussion groups page it gives 4 sponsored links for ActiveX repair. I wonder if that will help.

Maybe it's best to contact the MyPoints office. It's their program that generates the message, and they might be able to help.

Some of the spyware and adware removing programs automatically disable ActiveX in IE. You may want to look into that.
