Acronis 10 Home.

Sep 3, 2007 11:39PM PDT

I'm using Acronis 10 Home to image my hdd onto another hdd for system back up purpose. My main hdd is using XP Pro with all updates with NTFS. My back up hdd is FAT 32 and must break the image up into 5 or 6 files due to file size limitations.

My question is: is this an ok thing to do? Would it be better to reformat my back up hdd to NTFS so it is the same as my main drive, and it would just put it all in one file? Or doesn't it really matter? I've never had to restore my system with my present configuration, and would rather avoid any unpleasant surprises in the event that I do in the future.

Thanks,

~Dave

Why FAT?

It's not damage resistant while NTFS is.

No reason in particular...

It was an old drive, and I just never re-formated it to NTFS, since it seemed to work ok. I guess you advise to reformat it to NTFS, then? If so, how would you recommend I go ab out doing that?

Yes and XP's help tells how.

If you click start, help, you can ask CONVERT TO NTFS.
