Acrobat Extraction Frustration!

Okay, so I'm working at a printing company. We often print from large PDF files, using Adobe Acrobat (version 8 right now).
Now, with the printing software we use for large format prints it's faster to print from individual files, so I'll often extract the pages of a multi-page PDF into separate files. When it does this, it names the files "FILENAME 1.pdf", "FILENAME 2.pdf" etc. But if I have, like, 60 pages, the lack of a "0" before the first nine file numbers will place them out of order alphanumerically and it makes the file selection when I'm printing them tedious.

I'd say it only adds an extra two or three minutes to my workload every job, but if I do 15 jobs a day that's an extra half-hour to 45 minutes of work.

Maybe this is a minor annoyance, but I feel the people at Adobe are pretty good programmers and would have made a way to alter the naming structure for file extraction. Is there such a way?

Nope

It doesn't seem that changing the page numbers affects the way the files are named upon extraction.

Or why not a batch file to fix it yourself.

This took me 1 minute to make...

REN "FILENAME 1.pdf" "FILENAME 01.pdf"
REN "FILENAME 2.pdf" "FILENAME 02.pdf"
REN "FILENAME 3.pdf" "FILENAME 03.pdf"
REN "FILENAME 4.pdf" "FILENAME 04.pdf"
REN "FILENAME 5.pdf" "FILENAME 05.pdf"
REN "FILENAME 6.pdf" "FILENAME 06.pdf"
REN "FILENAME 7.pdf" "FILENAME 07.pdf"
REN "FILENAME 8.pdf" "FILENAME 08.pdf"
REN "FILENAME 9.pdf" "FILENAME 09.pdf"

Just did it...

Just made a pair of batch files. One with a tens place for files with 1-99 pages, and another one with hundreds places for anything 100-999. It's a little lame because I'll have to rename the base file to "DOCUMENT", but it's a reasonable fix.

Still, it'd be nice if Adobe had placed some kind of control over the file naming within the program.

You can point to Microsoft for what some call an incorrect sort.
