ACPI power stardard

Feb 6, 2007 9:12AM PST

I can not install vista on my Compaq Persario 2200 because it comes up with the error of

"This computer is not compliant with the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) standard. Windows must be installed onto a computer that supports ACPI. COntact your computer manufacturer for a BIOS update or install Windows on a ACPI-compliant somputer."

Is there any way around this??

What BIOS update should I use??

Thanks in advanced,

Ian B.

P.S. I am trying to install Windows Vista Business

You don't say if it is the Presario 2200 Desktop (very old) or the Presario 2200 Laptop.

Assuming it's the Laptop:
Is windows still installed at all on this, and is it bootable? If so, you can go to HP.com and download the latest BIOS update (runs from within Windows). If not, then you will hae to download the update and a flash program, and boot from a floppy to update the BIOS.

I just flashed the BIOS from version 1.5 to version 1.6 and it restarted and then i tried to install Vista again and it did not work.

P.s
I am using the Presario 220 laptop
