ACPI and Poweroff

Feb 5, 2004 9:31AM PST

I read in a few places that disabling ACPI can improve performance. I tried it, and I have to say that my PC is working better. Much better.

My question is, is there a way to make Windows XP actually power down your PC without ACPI? Now, I get that "It is now safe to run off..." I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I'd like verification. I can live with hitting the power button.

Thanks.
