Acer Laptop network problems

Feb 6, 2005 3:26AM PST

On my acer travelmate 2303LM running windows xp home, the network card has to be activated every time the laptop is restarted.
I have a home network of 2 computers, the acer laptop and a desk top running windows me.
Direct connection with a twisted pair rj45 cable.
The 2 computers connect without any problem but the laptop disconnects or disactivates the lan card every time at shut down and has to be told to become active.
How can I solve this problem ???
Help please.

A few thoughts.

1. Latest drivers.
However, no make/models of the card were noted. So I can't help you check on this.
2. If you EVER accepted a Windows Update driver, roll that back out. Your issue is too similar to another complaint when they accepted a Microsoft WU driver.
3. I found Acer support to be very good. Did you call this in?

Just asking.

Why is your post tagged or to the original post? It seems out of place and not the same issue.

And 99.99999% of the laptops I've seen do not have the ROM. As such, an enduser could configure it to try to boot from said rom and see such an error. I do not have your manual (and will not look it up on the web) about how to set it back because even when set incorrectly the machines booted and functioned.
