by ruysnr / September 15, 2008 7:34 PM PDT

I have Acer aspire 3000.
1. I am thinking about replacing the original 40 GB harddrive. What are the type of harddirve that will fit for it? (will this work?) and how easy is it for me to replace the harddrive myself.

2. the fan noise is really loud. any way to decrease the noise? (i tried the compressed air and no success)

My bet is you have an old OS too.

Until you supply exactly what OS is being installed, stick with 120GB and smaller drives.

As to the fan, you either find out why it's loud or replace it.

It's 127GB.

So that means 120GB. As to SATA or IDE the 3000 is a series with an Aspire 3000 Hard Drive Caddy in the 3003LCI, 3004LCI, 3005WLCI models. Acer notes the hard disk to be IDE.

I tell people to make sure that there is plenty of clearance between the base of the laptop and the surface it is sitting on. Especially as many units have an air intake on the base and not the side.

We also sell many hdds.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
