Acer Laptop - Good Brand?

Dec 27, 2014 11:12PM PST

We've been trying to find a laptop for my fiance that has

a 17"+ screen
Windows 7

I've found a few at Walmart, but all the ones that fit these 2 things are ACER. I've heard of ACER, but I've seen good and bad things about them.

She plays a lot of high-quality Facebook games, so a high-quality graphics card and processor would be a plus. She doesn't play games like WOW, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Happy

Two remarks:
1. To play facebook games you don't need a gaming laptop.
2. Why Windows 7? With Windows 8.1 you've got much more choice and after installing Classic Shell the difference in daily usage is small.

The windows 7 is just a matter of being so used to it, that trying something new is a bit scary.

Then it's not going to be at Walmart.

Most of the Windows 8 complaint can be solved by installing Classic Shell which is free. Given you are looking for Windows 7 laptops, you'll likely end up at Newegg, Amazon, Dell and sifting for those last machines that came with such. Those are getting more scarce so what you can get changes too fast.

Too bad you can't get the usual, add Classic Shell and have many many choices.
