Acer Laptop connectivity technology

Could I have a translation of what the following specs mean (see below), in English, please? It sounds like one or both may be connectivity services you sign up for. My web search for details so far has turned up more techno-speak. Thank you! Donna P.

The first item is "Wifi." Simple Wifi, the stuff we all use all over the place.

The second item is PANS or Pretty Amazing New Stuff that isn't very useful yet but some tech geek will probably pay for it.

My advice is to take the first and forget the second.

to be used on the move. It similare to the air card services offered by the cell phone companies. It's only avalable in Baltimore, Portland and Atlanta now. You can access the internet when there are no wireless connections at your location.
