- Run the makers hard disk diagnostics
- Restore the latest full image of your HDD/SSD (whatever you boot from), if you have one.
- Boot into a Linux disc or stick to have a look at what exactly is on that disk. Then repair if possible.
- Go back to factory conditions as told by Acer
- Get your Windows recovery drive (if you made one) and see what repair options it offers
- See if a clean install of Windows via a disc or stick you download (might be free, depending on what OS you have) solves this.
If this is a hardware issue with the hard disk, you might need to install a new one.
