I had an Acer Laptop running Win XP with eRecovery Management, imaging the disk to a 'hidden' recovery partition.
I bought a replacement Acer E15 (ES1-512) last November. It still included eRecovery Management looking exactly as I'd had on the XP. It could back up the entire drive including data, or increment anything added since last backup.
Mysteriously this application disappeared - I hadn't uninstalled it. When the OS became corrupt doing a Windows restore it needed a recovery from the partition. My last backup was out of date but managed to rebuild most of it, and that's when I discovered eRecovery Management had vanished.
I thought it could be downloaded from Acer support but it's not available. I have found it elsewhere but not said to be for Win 8.
Is anyone on Win 8 using this utility? It's not to be confused with Acer Recovery Management. I've got that and it only refreshes the OS, or resets to factory settings.

Hi Bob
I do keep separate (external) backup of my data/personal stuff but in event of a reinstall, having an image backup can make life simpler if the crashed system was otherwise OK. It would include other applications, favourites, and so on.
Can you recommend any imaging/cloning software that is dependable? Hopefully I'll not need it but should I, it needs to faithfully replicate all that was lost.
But it may challenge folk today. Maybe they need to stick with payware?

Seems from what I've read about varying brands of backup they are not all equal. What works for some doesn't for others. Freeware DriveImage gets a good review for backing up on the fly, as does AOMEI for ease of use.
I've been promised Acronis 'payware' for my birthday so now spoilt for choice - will probably try them all!
Thanks for your advice.
