Question

Acer Aspire E15 randomly turns itself off

Oct 23, 2018 8:07AM PDT

I ordered my Acer Aspire E 15 E5-576G-5762 on Amazon and received it on June 1 of this year. Soon after, and I’m not sure how soon, it began shutting itself off unexpectedly while unplugged. It occasionally happens while plugged in, but not often. It does not seem to have anything to do with system use, as it has happened even when I have no applications open. Additionally, the battery percentage does not seem to matter. Usually it shuts completely down, but it occasionally just goes to sleep.

I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the problem or not, but I’ll let you know just in case. I installed an extra 8GB of RAM as well as a 1TB HDD prior to turning it on for the first time. Almost every single time I intentionally shut the laptop down, I get the following message: “explorer.exe - Application error - The instruction at 0x00007FF81A28A510 referenced memory at 0x00007FFFAD4D3EB0. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.” This is what lead me to believe the problem with the laptop constantly turning itself off has something to do with the RAM I installed, though I’m not sure.

I’d be more than happy to share any more information you need. Thanks for your time!

This is in warranty so before the call be sure that you won't lose your files or apps. Backup your files to 2 places/things and check you are ready to reinstall apps.

Now you are ready to use the product warranty.
