My brother has a Acer 5000 series.

He clicks one of the buttons just below the pad to click. Try that.

that have tap-to-click capability and this one does, also have the facility to turn it off/on. Try right click on the touchpad icon in the notification bar down by the clock in the bottom right of the screen, see if there is an off/on selection.

Thanks for the advice.It worked and restored the tap click function
of the touch pad.
