ACER

Anyone know which major retailers carry Acer laptops?

I'm considering purchasing one, but I'd like to check it out in person first to test out the keyboard, etc.

Also, if anyone has had experiences with Acer and its customer service, esp. in regard to the travelmate 4500 service, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

I own a 600ter and the CDRW failed in month 3. I called in and after a few tests (try to boot the recovery CD) they gave me the option of sending in the laptop or them sending me a replacement CDRW to install myself. I took the new CDRW. It's now years old and needs a battery, but I don't see the models in stores. The keyboard was fine.

Acer is online mostly.

Since you are in the LA area you can see Fujitsu products at Fry's electronics (check them out --there is one in Burbank) but many Fujistsu's have only integrared/shared video.

But you are better off ordering the Acer online or the Toshiba M35 or HPZT3000/Compaq X1000, etc online custom. You can view both of these models though at Circuit City (the Toshiba will have Trubrite but the HP will not -- but Briteview just became available yesterday online).
