Accessories for more cinematic look

Feb 11, 2006 5:02PM PST

What are some accessories that I could purchase to give any short films I make a more professional/cinematic look? I am using a PVGS150.

Better quality/picture

Just something to make the films look like they were done professionally than by a camcorder (lenses/filters/lights, etc.)

Quality of the video depends on a lot of things.
Lighting is key. If you don't have enough light, your footage is probably grainy and dark, right?? More light will fix this.
For bright, sunny days outside you may want to consider an ND filter.
Your footage is always going to look like it was done with "a camcorder" because it was shot with a $500 camcorder.
Professionals (If you mean tv and Hollywood films) use camcorders that cost thousands and thousands of dollars.
Is that what you mean??

Lens

I didn't mean actual "movie" cameras, I just mean, is there any way to improve the way the quality will look. Also, if I got a new lens (for close ups or wider shots) would that downgrade the quality of video at all?

No, a quality wide angle lens will not degrade the quality. You will have trouble zooming in with it on though.
Are you talking about quality in indoor lighting??
