Question

Accessing my PC in Any Room of the House?

by ACAx1985 / June 26, 2012 1:06 AM PDT

I have a desktop computer in my bedroom that I need to access and control from any room in the house; at the very least, I'd like to access it in the living room (separated by about 4 feet of drywall). Besides running an HDMI cord through the wall from my desktop to my TV, what other options exist? What sort of wireless mouse/keyboard options exist, too, to access this content?

Did you consider something like the VeeBeam for the video or such? You didn't detail what this will be used for. Gaming over a wireless video link is not acceptable to most due to the delay induced.

As to the wireless keyboards, you have to consider more than the usual due to the distance. Maybe an iPad or such with a remote control app on the pad?

Use: Primarily Winamp
by ACAx1985 / June 26, 2012 1:17 AM PDT

Right now, I'd like to use it for media -- playing music with Winamp. I know Apple has a ton of great wireless solutions, but iTunes is a joke compared to Winamp and Winamp unfortunately doesn't have the same options. Perhaps emulation (something basic like NES) would be nice, too; being able to grow into other uses I haven't thought of yet would be cool.

I've never heard of VeeBeem, but I'll look into it, thanks.

A lot is the Logitech Revue and looking at the Sony Google TV. But since you wrote you don't like itunes I doubt you'll like any media device.
