Question

Access Windows Share from Ubuntu 12.04

Oct 5, 2012 7:42AM PDT

I have looked at numerous web forums on how to do this and after following many, many steps including mods to config files like smb.conf (with workgroup, DNS info, etc.) I have had no luck. I am doing this as part of my migration away from Windows to Linux.

Anybody had any real success accessing a windows share from Ubuntu 12.04 ?

Noot helping

I already went through this entire thread twice and it was not helpful.

It seems impossible to access the share. I keep getting FAILED TO MOUNT WINDOWS SHARE.

smbclient

When, in console, I do: smbclient -L ip

I get: Connection to 192.168.1.4 failed (Error NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL)

Does that explain anything?

Only a little.

I only have your posts to work with. For example I expect that when the firewall is up in the router or "client isolation" or the server is not at x.x.1.4.

Wish I had more ideas but it works fine here but then again, I know about those firewalls...
