Access webcam from browser -dev

Oct 13, 2006 3:40PM PDT

As a project for my work, I'm creating a PHP\MYSQL site for member management. I'd like to have the ability to take pictures from a webcam ALL from the browser. I'm sure I could do this from ActiveX, but I'd rather use something more portable(Firefox, Opera, etc.)

To be a little more specific, I'd like something like a button on the page that would take the picture when clicked.

Anyone know of a way I could do this. Difficulty should not be considered, I'm pretty diligent.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this is what you have in mind...

I use ScreenHunter 4.0 Free. It is basically a print screen utility that allows you to capture any part of the screen desired. I find it useful and it works well on any part of a screen including webcam pictures. Start the software and place it on standby... then press any key designated to make a picture. Simple enough! Find it here.

Hope this helps.

Bulent Screen Recorder

Find it here

http://www.thesilver.net/

I use it to record another cam/ the entire screen.

has settings for page/ region/ something specific.

also can do snapshots instead of recording a screen or object.

I suspect you can use Windows Movie Maker to add sound bites although I have not done it.

Records at 1- 10 frames/ sec and up to 10 GB at a time.

you will need to set up a separate folder for cam stream and save your *.avi files there.

Plays in WMP and no, am not a techie when it comes to this stuff.

Some knowledge of this, expert in Security and usually stay in our V&S Forum.

Email if you need more info.
