Access Violation in module 'triedit.dll' - Homesite 4.5.2

Sep 26, 2007 12:31AM PDT

I am getting an Access Violation in module 'triedit.dll' when I try to use the Design Mode of Homesite 4.5.2.

I Customized the exe to run as if the operating system was Windows 98, but I still get the error.

I have used Homesite since 2000 and I really like the Design Mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

You could install Virtual PC and run an older version of Windows in that. Virtual PC is thankfully free.

Virtual PC 2007
Sep 26, 2007 2:41PM PDT

On the Microsoft web site, I found Virtual PC 2007. I know nothing about Virtual PC. Do you know if it would work if I installed it on my Maxtor 200GB external hard drive. Vista is so confusing ( I just got Vista last week ) that I don't want to chance screwing something up on the main hard drive.

Thanks,
Steve

Vitrual PC will not run on Windows Vista Home Premium
Sep 26, 2007 3:09PM PDT

The specs don't mention that Windows Home Premium is one of the operating systems that Virtual Pc will run on. Microsoft states that:
Virtual PC 2007 runs on: Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Tablet PC, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, and Windows Vista Ultimate.

In addition there are a multitude of problems trying to install Windows XP on a Vista machine (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919529).

Thanks anyway,
Steve

So to get Homesite working you can...

Upgrade to Vista Business, install Virtual PC 2007 and then with which OS you run in the VPC you get to run Homesite (the version you have.)

Maybe someone is sending you a message here?
