Access 2003 crashes after upgrading from Office XP

Jul 1, 2004 10:12PM PDT

Access 2003 crashes every single time I try to either create a new database, or open an existing database file (whether mdb or dbf).

I can't find anything at Microsoft. I've downloaded and installed the Jet 4 support file, uninstalled it and Office; reinstalled it, cleaned out the registry of strays, etc. but nothing works. Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on and how it can be solved?

I am having the exact same problem after upgrading. Access is not useable at all now. Has anyone found any fix for this problem?

This problem may occur if you have Norton AntiVirus 2000, Norton AntiVirus
2001, Norton AntiVirus 2002, Norton AntiVirus 2003, or Norton AntiVirus
2004 installed on your computer. This problem may also occur if you have
run Norton's LiveUpdate and have installed the Script Blocking update for
Norton AntiVirus 2001, Norton AntiVirus 2002, Norton AntiVirus 2003, or
Norton AntiVirus 2004.

Please see the following article for more information.

295824 You may receive "A problem occurred while Microsoft Access was communicating with the OLE Server" error message when you try to embed or link a Word document in Access

I hope this helps,
Bob

PS. My thoughts here are your combinations of Antivirus, Firewalls and such may be conspiring to cause this issue. But such is not noted in your post.
