ACCESS 2000 - IMPORT OPTIONS

Nov 4, 2004 2:41PM PST

Hi,
After installing Microsoft Office 2000 on my eMachine running Win XP, I found that the only options I have when trying to import a file in Access are:

Microsoft Access (mdb...)
ODBC Database ()

Am trying to import Xcel and Word files via the "File|Get External Data|Import" option that's presented when Access is opened. The Xcel, Word, txt, csv, etc. options are not available (for importing purposes).

Anyone knows what's going on? The "Detect and Repair..." option under "HELP" didn't do anything to solve my problem.

Appreciate any assistance you Office gurus can suggest.

Please disregard as problem solved using regsvr32 to associate appropriate dll files with the register...at least I think that's what happened.

Any ideas why...

I always wonder how such files get UNREGISTERED. To date my best suspects are registry cleaners, virus damage or spyware.

Any suspects?

Bob

Howzit Bob,

Don't know why but I just ran AdAware and found TR/Bomb (ANSIb20.exe.vir ). Removed threat but I really don't think that it was the cause of my problem because I run all sorts of scans at least 3 times a week.

Might have to run scans more often...haha

Aloha,

John
