Acadia Heat Pump threads

John Willkenson, Who locked this thread and why!
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-4_102-0.html?messageID=3202605#3202605

Seems kind of strange to me.
There is a lot of activity on this subject and needs to be continued so all of us can learn from the Acadia system and to figure it out.

Clue us all in why the discussion was locked!

Thanks,

-Kevin

Why would you think
Dec 22, 2009 9:16PM PST

that a non-SE Moderator locked the thread?

344 posts, 23 pages, (as reported in my display), and it never seemed to end. It was also attracting spam replies, and with a thread that large, monitoring that becomes difficult.

Feel free to argue that the thread should be re-opened, but sometimes these discussions need to retire, and any decision to re-open this particular thread will be a joint decision by the SE Mods.

Besides, it was filling up the CNET servers hard disk space!

Thanks Mark. At least you are honest. I thought it was something I did on a post back to someone.

Let's face it, John Willkenson can close down a post any time. John does not have to be the Mod for Speakeasy or any other forum in able to do that. That is why I asked him why and who did it?

If you go back to a post for the Newbees Forum a few years ago there is a thread that is over 550 replys long.
Do you remember that?

Why is CNET running out of memory on their hard disk?? Sounds weird!

The original post did not attract any spam replies at all to my knowledge.
Mark, please show me the spam replies that you are referring to.
I would like to know.
The reason the threads never seemed to end is the fact we are trying to end our dependence on fossil fuel and the Acadia Heat Pump system is fairy new. That is why the discussion never seems to end.
What is you heating/cooling system based on? Oil,gas solar or other?

Better than endless discussions concerning Tiger Woods and his indiscretions! That discussion never seems to end and will fill up the hard disk space more than the Acadia discussion ever WOOD! :

What I think
Dec 23, 2009 11:10PM PST

During more extended times of inactivity the thread takes a long time or several tries to open. Activity has been sporadic, as proven by the date stamps. Thus the time to open varies. (I have plenty of "juice" at my end, so it has not been due to an outdated system.)

I have assumed that the first-time and/or only-one -time posters reached the thread via Google search or blog referral.

At this point in time I am less inclined to support your demand for the thread to be reopened.

Cooperation is a two-way street. ("Co-operation implies mutual assent.) Jonah gave you a sensible valid option that would in no way have interfered with your thread. All you would have had to do was start a new thread and include the link to the other one....

http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6130_102-0.html?threadID=306940&tag=forums06;forum-threads

.... so interested parties could read it and refer to it as needed as your discussion continues in the new thread.

But you chose to be offended by the lock, and to believe the only remedy to satisfy you is to remove the lock.

The locked thread's title says "Update". If I recall correctly, you had earlier posed about investigating the system and your hopes to cut your high utility bill.

So I believe that Speakeasy has not treated you or your topic unfairly.
