Question

AC Adapter Light Turns off When Plugged in Computer

Feb 24, 2015 12:58PM PST

Hi A few days ago. wrote about how my computer suddenly turned off while I was using it and wouldnt turn on in this thread: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6122_102-636966/my-desktop-shut-down-by-itself-and-won-t-turn-back-on/

So Today I decided to see if using a spare wall plug part of my old laptop adapter would make a difference with the brick part that came with the AiO. When I put them together and plugged it in, the light on the battery lit up. (But it would not light up with the wall plug it came with, when I tried tightening them together, it just flickered for less than a second and went off.)

I then plugged it (the brick with old wall plug) in the AiO desktop and the light on the battery, which was bright before, died. Then I tried seeing if it could plug the old laptop and it did charge it. So Im wondering what the problem is. The old laptop is a Lenovo and it says that the ac adapter is 90watts when its really 150watts. It makes me wonder if I really do need a new adapter or if there's something wrong with the AiO itself.

I also used the wall plug that came with the AIO adapter with the brick for my old computer and it worked. I cannot use the brick for my laptop on my AIO because it just wont fit.

So Im wondering what it is now.
