Ummmmm. which Camcorder to buy.....![]()
Hello,
Yes, it's a lot of food for thought. I watched the Panasonic
TM900K Test video and was actually surprised at the Quality. The FRY'S
Electronic price for this week is $1099-no tax, so Amazon's website's vendors on
this model would save me a little more money. BUT....would you ever consider a
warranty from an online vendor?
I usually buy my stuff locally because it's
easy to work with the EXT. warranties, but that's me. If yes, how many years of extended warranty
is worth getting...two years, three, five?
Also, I saw the SONY HDR-CX360 for $700.00 @ Fry's. hate to
say it, but the additional $$ difference aside, the Panasonic does seem better
with it's features.
There are a myriad of camcorder brands out there, and I'm
sure everyone goes through this grueling, yet necessary process trying to find
the right fit for what is needed.
I have been doing
video capture lately using my old VHS-C tapes from my 1997 ANALOG JVC. I want
to get a good camera to do HD Video to capture my nieces, and nephews with all
of their sports...albeit soccer, and football.
I WISH I could plop down $28,995 for a Hasselblad H4D-50, or
even $2000.00 for a CanonXA10 HD Camcorder, but let's be real. Until my boat
comes in, or I swim out to it, or win the largest lottery jackpot known in
history, well, I won't be using either of the two noted cameras anytime soon.
I use the Pinnacle Studio 14HD software, and also Photoshop,
and incorporate both to my videos, but re-thinking, I would not be happy with a
mid range, run of the mill, camcorder. I would imagine a definite quality
difference between a $1000.00 and $400.00 dollar camera.
So.... from me thinking I would be (somewhat) happy with a
$500.00 range, it's suggested to me from a few others on other video boards
that I save my money for something better.
I do not need the optional 3-D lens ( at least I don't think
I do) or GPS features(why) that come with the newer cameras, Just need
something that could shoot great in low-light situations, FULL HD, with a good
optical zoom, but more importantly, great video output, with 60/24 fps.
Today's fry's ad has a Canon Vixia HF R100 for $170.00, no
tax ,ends today...my eyes opened wide thinking they knocked off $$210.00 off
the retail price. almost went for it. but then reality set in...what a tragic
mistake that would have been , for me anyway, but not someone who wants
basic video.
It's a long term investment, and a very confusing process,
to whittle down to the best overall, not too cheap, nor too expensive
Camcorder.
Thank you....much appreciated!
