How recently were they modified?
Mar 26, 2010 4:42AM PDT

When System Protection is enabled, previous versions are automatically stored upon a restore point's creation if the file was modified since the previous restore point. Since old restore points are automatically deleted to make room for newer ones, that means the previous versions will be deleted as time goes on, removing them entirely for files that have not been modified recently. That may be the case here.

Also, check System Restore, verifying that it is working properly and that there are recent restore points available.

This has also been verified, I created a manual backup system, I restored without problems, there has currently 15 restore points. But when I right click on C: \ previous versions, I always have the same message

"No previous version is available"

And I am also specifies that administrator.

VSS is far from automatic.

http://www.visualwin.com/VSS/Part2.html writes about setting up VSS in Server 2003 but in Windows 7 it is similar.

Nothing should be showing until you setup VSS.

Sorry but I must decline writing any tutorial about shadow copy but there is online and books about it.

Thank you but I found the solution, we must make the data values 1 AutoShareServer and AutoShareWks in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ lanmanserver \ parameters

That's a fine finding that.

I think that's a good find but to use VSS why would this be something we need to dive into the registry for?
