About pop up

Dec 9, 2003 7:50AM PST

I don't understand it but now I have a virus. I have anti- virus AVG 6 but they say they can't get rid of it. So I was thinking of getting Norton anti-virus 2004 but reading your forum there has been problems with using it. The virus is Trojan horse downloader called winfavorit.A. Now the only thing I could do is recover my pc which I don't want to do. I also ran a scan from housecalls and sysmantec and they say to install Norton 2004 to get rid of it. What do you think?

You really need to post this in the "Virus and Security Alerts" forum where I am sure someone can give you good advice.

I doubt there is a need to purchase Norton 2004 or any other special software to get rid of this problem.

Good Luck! Happy

No matter which AV you use, at some point you may run into the situation where a file is in the System Restore area. Such can't be deleted with ease and you have to help it out.

This is not limited to any specific antivirus and I've seen people "try" 4 antivirus programs and state that the virus was "a tough one."

It's also well known that some virus/trojan or other items are only removed with specific procedures or tools. Again, there is not a antivirus program made that will eject all virus or trojan.

Do your research on the named pest and then follow the removal instructions.
