gardebien,
You may want to limit the amount of time watching a non-full screen picture on your television. Older rear projectors, CRTs and Plasmas are much more likely to get image retention or "burn in" on the sets using this kind of setting. LCD is not immune to this, but it's going to be a little more flexible.
If you start to notice the picture becoming uneven, then you may want to make sure your picture is in the full screen. I do always recommend trying to get a full screen when possible, but I'll leave that decision to you.
Let me know if I can help with anything else.

I just got my new Samsung 3 days ago and I use the just scan setting for my tv viewing is this ok? Do I have to worry about the screen not being totally filled on non hd channels? I have a friend with a rear projection that seems to think this could cause damage to my set. Any help would be appreciated.
