? about my new laptop purchase

Jul 2, 2009 6:13AM PDT

I recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv7t laptop, and when I looked up all the programs that were included with it, MANY of the programs were shown to be installed MONTHS before I ordered the computer (to be built to my spec's, this was not a preconfigured laptop). The laptop was ordered in June, and programs are shown to have been installed as early as January 13, 2009. Is this normal? Or does it mean that my new laptop is "used".

Thanks for anyone who can shed some light on this somewhat "weird" question Happy

hope i help?

many times the hard drives are pre-configured with pre-installed software and just put into the laptop at the time of assembly. most trial-ware is like that, also they expect enough ppl to want certain software to just have HDD's with it on there already to save time later.

Where are you getting the dates from?

If you looking at the dates in Windows Explorer then tose dates are the dates the file was compiled or created and not installed.

Thank you Chris...

that does help and it makes total sense.

Orlbuckeye: I got the dates by going to "Control Panel", then "programs", then "programs and feautures". And it gives the actual install dates for the programs.

I know that HP sells refurb's and I paid for a NEW laptop, so I was just wondering about the dates.

thanks guys!
