When you press play, does the tape run?
If the tape runs normally, is there no picture or sound?
These answers may help others to give advice.
It is possible that you may find a similar machine on eBay so you can download existing tapes to your PC.
IMO it may be time to invest in an up to date camcorder. Consumer cams left tape behind for solid state storage such as SD cards and, now 4K is the flavour of the year, cards with a lot of storage is required. I still have my Canon HV20 but only take it out to give it a dust. The disadvantage of tape camcorders is that the mechanical tape deck is prone to failure and wear whereas cards rely on fixed connectors. I moved from tape in 2011 and now have two card based cameras.
I have an 8mm camcorder and as of now, I now when I put in a tape, it doesn't want to play, I was wandering what the problem is..could I fix it myself, if I knew what the problem is?.
