Since restoring my system with mfg. recovery discs I am unable to set IE 6.0 to any other site but about.blank. Even then I must select a "search tool" after clicking "Search" in order for me to browse the web. I cannot type any URL's, click, and go directly to a desired web page. Any attempt to do so results in a window opening with an entirely blank white page. I am able to type in any home page I desire, click apply and have the URL appear in the properties window correctly. I click apply and then try to go there and again the blank white window appears. SpyBot, Norton Antivirus 2004 (updated) and cwshredder show my system to be clean. Can anyone HELP?

Sounds like you have a corrupted file somewhere. I don't know if sfc covers IE6 or not. I removed and reinstalled IE6 once to fix it, and it worked, but I did so many things, I'm not sure of the process. You might try sfc though. Do a search for it in the help section. You get the syntax. You might find some other files that need cleaning up. I think the new IE6 downloads come with SP2 so I'd rather shoot myself in the foot.
