Question

Abit9 Pro Mobo -> Getting Post Code 9.0

Feb 27, 2016 8:17AM PST

My Tower apparently got zapped. It wouldn't even turn the fans on.

I have replaced the Mobo with same model (used) which the seller says worked fine. It is an Abit 9 Pro.

I have gotten new memory, as I wanted to upgrade the memory.

I have cleared CMOS, and put in a new battery.

I have put in a new power supply.

It will turn on, but immediately goes to a post code of 9.0. According to the Abit 9 Pro manual, it means "Complete eGuru initial process. Aware Bios take over booting job."

No video comes to the monitor whatsoever.

Seems I have tried everything, and no luck.

Any suggestions

Answer
Did you try with as few parts as you can?

That's next before you start returning boards.

Few parts...

I have disconnected all drives but one. I have tried with the video card out. Not much else there, although I suppose I could pull the connections to the USB connectors.

I've seen folks in other post recommend upgrading BIOS. But, no way to do that when it won't even post.

No drives are needed here.

Keep removing parts. I strip it down to about 4 parts, motherboard, PSU, one stick ram and depending on the machine, onboard video or card. The goal is to see the BIOS. If not working I'm looking at the bad or badly configured parts.

Wil try it

I have taken down to 1 stick of RAM, and different RAM. I'm not sure I did that at same time as other things.

I'll go to 1 stick, no video card, no drives, and watch the codes.

I don't see how anything could be 'configured wrong'. Not much to configure. Can't get to BIOS to change Bios and screw that up. But, if you have thoughts, I'll try them out. Will post back. (I'm suspicious of the BIOS, but no way to update it).

Tested per suggestion - no go

Just finished. Took video card out;disconnected all drives. Nothing connected to any ports.

Still only gets to 9.0 and does not pass to bios to boot.

I'm beginning to think this MOBO is bad.

What is this mobo?
I don't seem to be able to find an abit 9 pro.
I do see an abit ab9 pro.

I missed if you tried a CMOS reset.

See if that changes anything.
