My first Canon Digital 2.1 MP camera would get 20 to 60 pictures per charge. You write some 90 to 350 shots which sounds like quite the improvement.
Given you know this number, just do like I did for my Canon and carry a second charged battery and swap when needed.

Hi, I'm trying to decide between Powershot A540, A620 or SD 500. Having manual features and the better image quality of the A series would be nice, willing to sacrifice a bit from the ultracompact sizes of SD's. But I'm worried about the battery life of A540 or A620, my first choices. For A540, my first choice, the listed battery life is about 90 shots, which is definitely insufficient. For A620, that's 350 shots, better, but then you should carry the extra weight and hassle of 4 AA batteries.
I haven't come across any comment about practical problems about battery life. So, I'd appreciate if anyone has any suggestions.
