A1181 Display Issue

Jun 25, 2012 6:22PM PDT

Hi,

I replaced the display in my macbook a1181 as the screen had cracked. When I switch the machine on with the clutch cover in place the screen does not switch on. When I remove the clutch cover and switch it on the screen works perfectly. I am at a loss.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Kev

When you attach the clutch cover,

you are displacing or pinching a cable that runs from the body to the screen.

Find it, route it correctly and you should be fine

In particular I would start my investigation with the little cable that extends from the left side of the inverter which is the backlight control cable. I'm betting that the screen does turn on, there's just no backlight, so unless you've got really good eyes and the right lighting, it's almost impossible to tell. Still, getting the LVDS cable routed properly is also not the easiest thing in the world, even for those of us who've done it a few dozen times. The only other possibility is the two wires from the inverter to the display itself, and you REALLY want to hope you are severing those, because that would require a whole new display panel.

You also want to make sure that your airport antenna cables are not being pinched, because they are very easily severed and almost as big a pain to replace as the display panel.
