a building is just a building.

a flag is just a flag?......a burning cross is just a burning cross?.....

Why the uproar about a mosque in New York City near ground zero?...

It's "just a building".

No problem with Islamists walking/living/worshiping/working in New York...Just don't built a mosque on THIS corner. It's just a "building".

I saw mosque in Greece
Aug 18, 2015 3:35AM PDT

Didn't bother me at all, since no muslims were there to use it. Greeks were tossing garbage over the fence into it at times.

"Why the uproar about a mosque in New York City near ground zero?..."

Because not of the building but of who would be using it. I'd say great, build one there, but ONLY after we are allowed to build a Cathedral in Jeddah.

So you just don't like people that worship Islam.....

they weren't there anymore

Either Greece or the local area of Crete had made them leave, I think during the Cyprus war with Turkey.

".a burning cross is just a burning cross?....."

Yes, it is. Burning in someone else's yard is where the problem is.

"a flag is just a flag?"

Seemingly not to Liberals and blacks and anyone else who wants to act like fools and turn it into something else. If hypocrisy was set aside, the Stars and Stripes would be the first to go, for the carnage of native Americans, hundreds of years of slavery under it , breaking constitutional laws resulting in a dissolution of the union, which was then enforced on those offended in the first place by illegal northern taxes and restrictions on trade that affected the south, to force advantage to the north such as not allowing cotton sales to Europe, which was willing to pay more. Hypocrites.

Where does "sacred ground" fit in your scenario?
Aug 18, 2015 4:04AM PDT

IF everything is "just" a building, flag, mosque?

sacred ground is "just dirt"?

- Collapse -
pretty much just dirt or rock or sand or whatever is there
Aug 18, 2015 4:13AM PDT

Unless God says different like he did to Moses and then later to Jacob. Even that seems transitory. Places can be "sanctified" in the sense of the word which means set apart for a particular use or task. If it's not used for that anymore, then how does it retain anything beyond being just another building?

So everything is "just" whatever
Aug 18, 2015 4:20AM PDT

UNLESS the other religion is using it.

Got it.

No, you didn't "get it"

because that's NOT what I said. I really get tired of your constant lies about what people actually said.

And Islamists can't "sanctify" a piece of property in NYC?

No, they can't
Aug 18, 2015 6:56AM PDT

And if I had my way they'd never have been allowed into this country to stay, only select ones to visit, after careful approval and a short visa.

as closely as the second. Religion and Expression. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. There were Muslims in the colonies.

Build a mosque anywhere you want, but
Aug 20, 2015 5:20AM PDT

only as long as it stays empty so it will deteriorate and then get burned down by firefighters..........since we lost so many of them on 9-11, it seems appropriate that they would be the ones to burn it, don't you think?

Interesting terminology
Aug 17, 2015 4:47AM PDT

Our news media probably wouldn't use the word "derelict". I've most often heard that word to describe a human or the quality of being lazy or inattentive. It appears that it's also used to mean run down due to lack of attention to maintenance. I guess the word does fit.

I don't know about reaping and sowing other than the metaphorical use such as comes from biblical quote. Taken in that sense, I'd hesitate to say that God would consider that act alone as anything more punishable than other simple acts of arson. We've had some suspicious church burnings here in the US but the suspicion is that the evil acts are directed at certain people rather than at God. That distinction could make a difference in what is reaped.

derelict or not....

Arson is an act of disrespect regardless of what is set afire but I wasn't making a good connection with where you might be going. Leaving that to someone's imagination doesn't always achieve the desired result.
