I have now solved this by disconnecting drive (0) and altering the boot sequence in bios. Happy days!
Now this muppet can get on with his cloning.
Win 10, Disk 0-SSD Partitions, System reserved (j:) and alternate base disk (H:). Disk 1-SSD Partitions, System reserved (no drive allotted) and Base Disk (C:). Disk 2 -HDD (E:) Programmes. Disk 3 -HDD (G:) Duplicate of E:
I was originally using win 7 loaded on Disk 0 with no problem. I was becoming concerned that I was running out of space on this disk and also wanted to upgrade to win 10.
I installed a new larger SSD (now disk 1) and cloned it from my original SSD. I then installed the windows upgrade to my new SSD (disk 1), and left the original SSD in place, with the intention of cloning the SSD with win 10 on, and keeping it ‘just in case’. All’s running well.
Now came the time to clone. Just to make sure all was well, I disconnected my SSD (0) started my PC, but it would not start, ‘loading operating system’. I reconnected (0) and disconnected SSD (1), Same Fault, ‘loading operating system’. Reconnected (1), and PC starts fine.
How did I cause the operating system to spread over two drives? And what do I do to correct it?
Any suggestions on the way forward and many thanks in advance for your help
