General discussion

A small request...

This would obviously be low priority, but would also be fairly simple to implement...

As it stands, if a member posts a message with no body (NT) is added to the start of the subject line to indicate there is "no text." However, this is automatically done if a member previews his/her message, meaning it remains, unless manually removed if he/she edits the post, adding a body. A partial solution would be to have (NT) added only upon submission. Ideally, though, the software should be able to remove the (NT) from the subject line if it detects a body present. It should, of course, be customized to remove (NT) only if it's the first four characters to avoid removing it when it possesses some other meaning. A warning should also be made if adding the (NT) would make the subject exceed the maximum character count, and thus chop off the last (up to) 5 characters of the subject.

If I'm rambling, just keep smiling and nod. Happy

Happy and nodding.

Where I get lost is "It should, of course, be customized to remove (NT) only if it's the first four characters to avoid removing it when it possesses some other meaning"

Such as...

I've seen some say something like "I'm running Windows 4.0 (NT)" and then continue with a fully body. The forum software should recognize that the (NT) is not at the very beginning of the subject line, and thus not remove it just because there is a body.

Happy and nod

What I do is too type in the body first in case I hit enter by mistake, learned by experience. Happy, and always preview, especially if there are links involved.

Thanx

re: NT

There have been times when I hit "preview" for some reasons known only to my unconscious brain, Happy, before I have typed a message in the body. Thus seeing the NT in the preview wakes me up to hit edit. This also happens to me when I have only a link ready to insert, and neglect to hit paste.

So, for me, the NT in preview is a convenience.
