General discussion

a riddle

Nov 28, 2003 4:35AM PST

Often talked of, never seen,
Ever coming, never been,
Daily looked for, never here,
Still approaching, coming near.
Thousands for it's visit wait
But alas for their fate,
Tho' they expect me to appear,
They will never find me here.
What is the poem about?

Answer:
Tomorrow

A Follow-Up Riddle...

What can bring back the dead,
Make us cry, make us laugh, make us young,
Born in an instant yet lasts a life time?

Correct Sasha! Now try this follow-up riddle...

No cheating now...

It is in a rock but not in a stone.
It is in marrow but not in a bone.
It is in a bolster but not in a bed
It is not living, nor is it dead.

Try this:

What must you keep after giving it to someone else?

Maybe we should put the proposed answers in the Message Bodies rather than the Subject so that others can have a chance to guess before seeing the answer on the following line. I made the same mistake in my reply to Mary Kay's riddle...

"Secrets" is a good guess. But again, it's not the answer that I was looking for. Try again???

What must you keep after giving it to someone else? A Promise

This one should be easier...

Only one colour, but not one size
Stuck to the ground, yet easily flies.
Present in sun, but not in rain
Doing no harm, and feeling no pain.
What is it?

I'd say Sasha Tee was right, at least in spirit.

Granted, in riddles one is looking for a particular phrase and hers wasn't it.

But I read it the same way, since she used "Your Word" in capitals espcially as giving my word I would do something to be the same as a promise.

But anyway, clean fun.

Since I didn't have the benefit of Alex Trabec to make a ruling on Sasha's answer, I decided it would be better to be safe and wait for the expected answer. Maybe since the stakes weren't that high, I could have been generous and given Sasha the points. Perhaps next time I will be a bit more flexible... Happy

He who takes it does not know it.
He who knows it does not want it.
He who gathers it must destroy it.
What am I?
