A question about Vista backups

Hi, I have Vista Home Premium, and I just bought a Seagate Freeagent usb 2.0 external hard drive. If I use the Microsoft Vista backup program will I then be able to take my external hard drive, plug it into another computer, even an XP one and play my music and video files? Thanks!

I've tried the Vista backup program and true to what happened over the last few versions of Windows, the backups and restore programs are incompatible from one to another version of Windows.

Take a gander at SYNCBACK (the free version.)
