Hi Jupiter.
At first I thought this was an easy question to answer, but thinking about it, I am now not so sure.
Your second problem may be easy. The link does not change color once it has been used. Some web pages do this. They set the ''links'' color, the ''active links'' color, and the ''visited links'' color all the same. This is just personal choice of the web site designer.
But it may be that your Firefox settings have also been set to show links and visited links the same color. With Firefox open, if you go to Tools, Options, then select ''Content'', find the ''Colors'' button for Fonts & Colors. In there, you can check/change what colors Firefox uses for unvisited and visited links, and also, see if there is a tick that allows web sites to use their own colors. You can experiment with those.
But your first problem, the Back button takes you back to the top of the page, is one I cannot explain. It's as if Firefox is losing it's history settings which tell it which pages you have seen, and what part of the page you were on, but that can't be right as if there was no history, then the back button would not work.
Do you get the same problem in Internet Explorer with these sites?
Mark
I am a PC user
When I am browsing through a web page with a lot of links on it, I click on a link half way down the page and go to where it takes me.
When I click the 'back' arrow on my browser (Firefox) in order to go back to the page with the links, I find that I am taken to the 'top' of the link page instead of the middle section, (where I clicked the link in the beginning.)
Also, (and most frustrating for me) I find that this link I clicked on, has not been highlighted as is normal with visited links, leaving me searching through a large page in order to find it again and then continue my search down the page.
The site I am talking of is called 'TradeMe', it's a New Zealand version of Ebay.
However, I have this problem no matter which site I go to.
Is there an easy fix for this?
As is probably evident from this post, I do not have much experience in this area, therefore, I would be grateful for any simple and constructive input.
Regards
