Hi, Del.

Unfortunately, I don't have a link as, the McLaughlin Group has gone capitalist, and their web site is now nothing but a search engine to help you buy the right transcript or video feed. But in Friday's show he went through in detail the elctoral vote map of the states. Based on current polls, he shows Kerry starting with a solid base of 190-some, and Bush starting with a solid base of 168. Allocating the remaining "batleground" states on the basis of at least a four point margin in the polls (which is beyond the statistical margin of error), he shows Kerry currently solid or leading in states with 286 electoral votes, 16 more than needed to win. Hence the sleaze brigade swinging into action early and often -- but I predict the extra time (an 8-month rather than 2-month) campaign will take away the technique's effectiveness. There can always be surprises, and it's not clear how some would really affect things (for example, what if, God forbid, there really is a "black wind of death" here. Would Bush be seen as a symbol of national strength, as after 9/11, or will the majority feel twice on his watch is too many? I honestly don't know), but right now Bush looks to be following in Dad's footsteps.

Hi, Del.

You know what I think of it -- just another part of the unrelenting smear campaign. And it's all getting very old very fast.

Smear campaign ?
Mar 14, 2004 10:43PM PST

I believe the record supports anything that was used in that quiz. So what's the smear with the truth ?

As far as getting old very quick, it's just started with Kerry, ....what about the past three plus years from yourself, and not using the record, but inferring and implying. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Hi, Del.

I agree completely about the past three years under our selected President, but probably not in the sense you mean.
