did you unplug the computer before changing these parts? newer motherboards continue to supply power unless the power supply switch is turned off on the back and it is safest to unplug the power cord. test the drive in another computer to see if it works and is readable.

PROBLEM: 1st attempted a new Hard drv install- result after I configured parameters was : "no os found", It will not take the OS disc, or a repair floppy or a dos boot disc. And it won't boot to dos. 2nd Thinking HDD was bad, I re-installed original HDD. Again after I configured the HDD parameters, and the HDD was detected it too said: "No OS found" Since I put the old back I also I am having probs w/ pwr to HDD, and CD rom drv, and floppy. all of which worked prior to upgrd attempt. It is possible that I shorted out the MB? It is an NEC factory tower, 32 MB ram, pwr supply does come on. Both HDD's are Win 98, I tried 98 boot disc, dos boot disc and OS cd. none of which will load the OS and I cannot even get into DOS to try an Fdisk on either drv. Yes I can go into set to adjust the parameters, but none of the defaults or different adj. to there values will allow a boot. I am an A+ cert. and I have never seen or heard of this prob. Can someone help? All cables are secure. It does detect floppy not D:, or C: drives. Help ASAHP!! PLEEZ Think Hard I nedd someone that knows there stuff.
