That partition scheme is an odd idea. Have you seen how a partition shows in a Unix directory? No drive letter but just another directory. As such I see lots of reasons why partitioning is not something to bother with here.
It's a new world and your Mac will arrive clean, without any blotware. Enjoy it and start to discard those ideas your learned from Windows.
Bob
Next week I will be getting my shiny new mac book(The highest spec. configuration on it). I would like to get a mac book pro but it passes my budget way to much.
When I get the new book I am planning to reinstall the operating system just to feel clean, but before I do that; I wanted to partition the disk drive in two like 10gb the smallest one for time machine. My question is will this work for time machine as an external drive. I know that this is not the best way to do things, but I do not want o spend more money on other parts after I just spent $1000 dollars upgrading my other laptop to vista.(Many problems for the upgrade). I normally back up my important files on DRD-RW'S anyway, so in case my had drive fails my data will not be lost.
Also I would like any advice on the big switch from Windows to Mac OSX.
I cannot believe I am actually doing this, and so happy about it, although I will have less pc problems to worry about. And to think I fix PC computers for close friends and relatives.
Thank You in advance for tips and answers.
