83 Processes seems a lot, but then all computer systems are different.
You say they all seem to be required, but are they all required at once, or at startup? Only you can tell.
There are plenty of resources you can check your Processes with on the internet, and one I use often is AnswersThatWork.com.
Many of these Processes will be linked to running Services, and the ElderGeek will help you decide which services you need in his Services Guide.
Also, check your System Configuration Utility, (MSCONFIG), from Start > Run, type in msconfig, and click OK then the Startup tab. Be brutal. Startup items listed that you really do not need to load at startup can be disabled. I mean things like Real Player, Quicktime, 'any' media player, any Instant Messengers etc. All of those you can open and run as and when you need them.
It's a process of elimination, and there is no one-click answer to it.
I hope that helps.

Toshiba Sattllite Tablet PC. Windows XP Tablet PC SP 3. 1.67ch Intel Core 2 Duo.
LT slow to start. When up some 83 processes are running. This from Task Mgr. I have reformatted, defrag, with Norton, and other programs. Still 83 running. Is this normal for Tablet PC. I have verified all the items, and they all seem to be required, but do they have to run to be accessable?
I am prepared to go into the Register if required, but not sure that I am up to speed on the item. I have also cleaned out the Start up File.
Help is appreciated
