a laptop never show the logon window and does not allow me

I have this compaq Evo N610c laptop, i have rebootedthe machine in safe mode and normal mode it tries to go to the desktop to logon but the logon windows never show up, any help, no error are shown running win xp pro service pack1, last time i used was working fine but i forgot the password i guess maybe the computer got locked,don't know , please help

A few fixes.

1. Boot the restore CDs and repair the OS.

2. Boot the restore CDs and select the option to wipe and reinstall the OS.

after a while the CTRL+ALT+DEL CAME UP

Yeah after a while the CTRL+ALT+DEL window came up, then i press the keys and took a little while to leave that window and then never show up the next window wich is the logon, do you still think i should follow your previous post
