One could go to 20 or 30 different sites and see if there are updates, either on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, or they could bookmark this site
http://www.dozleng.com/updates/index.php?act=calendar once a day and in 5-10 secondes one can know wether there has been any updates..
I have recently found that most product manafacturers update drivers and firmware.
For example: my network which is surrounded around my LinkSys router frequently falls apart. Then I found out that LinkSys updates its firmware quite often. After the first time I updated it, my network started falling apart significantly less than before-from every other day to once a month. Then I updated the firmware again and my network hasn't fallen apart since.
I have also updated my drivers for my printer.
I strongly reccomend that you check for updates for all your devices. You usually find them at the product manafacturers web page in a downloads section. As for your computer: www.windowsupdate.com has all the driver updates.
