My first post was unclear. I do not need the whole system to be portable (the system will live in my house) but do want to be able to use the MP3 player portably.
I have the luxury of starting from scratch. I know I would like to play CDs, listen to MP3s and connect a Sirius receiver. I do not need DVD or video capability.
I am leaning toward an iRiver for mass storage and playback. (I don't want necessarily to dedicate my PCs to the music system and I want portability)
So what amplifier and speaker system would let me do that best? I do not need a DVD capability. Just music. But I would like to simply plug Sirius AND the iRiver and my notebook and a CD player into the back of the system and listen. So I guess lots of plugs in the back is best.
And it's for a fairly small space now, but I'd like option of adding other speakers later.
Any great suggestions from the readers here? Have checked out the Cnet reviews and can't tell what aux inputs I would require.
And I am lucky enough that I can trade price for space. That is, I would rather have something small and clean, even if that means paying up a bit.
