General discussion

A few questions..

Oct 30, 2005 3:36AM PST

hey everyone, just have a few questions.. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

1) I'm thinking about buying a Zen Micro, just looking for feedback, and if you didn't like it, what are alternatives to it for around the same price? (No Ipod's please)

2) What's a good FM transmitter for an mp3 player? (no car jack, I plan on using it with my stereo as well)

3) If the Micro doesn't come with an AC adapter, are there any out there I can buy for it?

Thanks

Go for a Rio Carbon
Oct 30, 2005 10:25AM PST

I had a Rio Carbon and I loved it. I got it at Best Buy with their extended warranty. I dropped it a couple months later and broke the volume wheel. I took it back, and they offered me store credit. They were out of Carbon's so I got the Zen Micro. I returned the Micro a couple days later because I didn't like a couple things about it. I didn't like the Creative software, I didn't like the interface, and I hated the short battery life (I got 5-9 hours as compared to 18-20 for the Carbon and Ipod Mini). I finally ended up with a Ipod mini, which I liked most of the three, but it sounds like you don't want an Ipod.

Good luck.

Nice player

Zen micro is a nice player (if you get one of the latest versions, where supousedly the headphone jack problem is fixed). It does come with a power adapter.

Check circuit city's site
Nov 2, 2005 8:09AM PST

I bought an mp3 player about a month ago. I looked all over the place for opinions and found circuit city to have some good feedback. I chose a Sandisk. About the Zen...didn't look like their customer service was up to my standards based on what I saw of the reviews. Remember that any hard drive mp3 player may give you more problems than a flash drive.
Also, I bought the Belkin Tunecast for about $20...not great, but it works good enough for me. If I was worried about high sound quality, I would look at one that has greater range of broadcast frequencies (this one has 88.1,88.3,88.5,88.7) to eliminate interference. Hope this helps.

Why an FM transmitter for your home stereo?
Nov 2, 2005 9:34PM PST

I think the sound would be better wired between your mp3 player and some input on your stereo. Why use the FM transmitter at home? Does your stereo have no inputs at all?

Not the one I use outside
Nov 5, 2005 4:28AM PST

When working on my house outside I usually bring out a small stereo with an FM radio.

Thanks for the feedback guys, keep 'em comin. To one of the responses, where can I find the limited edition package?
